Preppy Fall Trends 2014

I know, I know the equinox isn't for another two months (September 22nd in case you were wondering)! That doesn't mean you can't get a head start shopping for all your sweater and boot needs. This past month I have been looking at all the runway looks for Fall 2014. It's safe to say 99.9% of the things I saw I wouldn't wear. So I compiled a list of on trend articles I could wear without sacrificing my style.

Without any further rambling, here is my compiled list for Fall 2014.

Tops

Patterned Oxfords

A cozy button down with a sweater is my ideal Fall outfit. Bold patterns were defiantly a big deal on the runway this year. Even though some of the patterns featured are... Outlandish. Gigham and flannel oxfords are a timeless piece that belong in every girls closet.

Quarter-Length Striped Shirts

I love these because theres no way you can go wrong here! Pair it with a gold statement necklace, and WAM! You look preppy & polished. Every lazy girls dream...

Oversized Sweaters

Do I really have to explain here?! You have not known true love until you have worn an oversized sweater. These are great to pair with leggings to dress down . You could  add a large statement necklace to dress it up. Who needs boys when you have comfy sweaters to keep you warm?

Birds Of A Feather

BIRDS! The runway was defiantly had bird fever this season, along with animal print fever. If you have any crazy leopard pants hiding in those drawers, now is the time to dust off the moth balls and rock it!

Long Sleeved Tees

Just like the sweaters, long sleeved shirts are the way to my heart. Perfect for those lazy, messy bun days.

Dressed & Skirts

60's Midi Dresses

Welcome to the 60's! I'll have to admit when I was first exposed to then trend I was not a fan, but they sure have grown on me. Again there really is no way you can go wrong here. Pair it with a statement necklace, or some chunky bracelets and you're ready for a night out on the town!

Dresses With BOLD Patterns

I'm actually pleasantly surprised about this trend. I always thought this to be more of a "summer thing." But going along with the trend of patterned oxfords, dresses aren't far behind.

Midi Skirts

This is easily my favorite trend! If you like your calfs or maybe a little insecure about your legs, midi skirts are LIFE SAVERS! They hit you perfectly so you can show a little leg, while hiding the parts your not wanting to display. #winwin

Skater Skirts

For those nice 70 degree days. They have a nice shape that flatters most body types. Try pairing it with a flannel, belt, & some boots. Perfect for the Pumkin Patch.

Outerwear

Vest

A cult favorite. These guys are stellar when it comes to layering! I don't recommend getting a "puffed" of "bubble" vest if you are trying to looks slim. Been there, done that! Now if I could just get my hands on the J.CREW Herringbone.

Shep Shirts

Another cult favorite. These cozy quarter zips are 100% worth the investment. They look great when layering over Chambray, Flannels, or even a tank top.

Sweater Cardigans

Not as well liked in the "Preppy Community," but large bulky coats were HUUUGE on the catwalk. Try pairing it with a patterned oxford, jeans, and some riding boots or loafers. I think this is a more wearable and cozy compromise to the giant trench coats.

Pants

Pixi Pants

These faux leggings are perfect for when you need to be active, be lazy, be warm, and tuck into boots easily . Once again these are quite the investment, and go with everything. They're worth every penny.

Dark Wash Skinny Jeans

I'm sure every single person reading this owns at least one pair of these. Dark wash skinnies go with everything, are sliming, and tuck into boots easily.

Shoes

Hunters

I actually don't own a pair. My friends that do say their great and would recommend them to just about anyone.

Riding Boots

Again! I don't own a pair!!! I need to work on my shoe collection this fall. I'll update y'all. #shoeproject2k14

Two Toned Flats

I do actually own these. Because of the "two toned" aspect, these suckers go with just about.... everything. Jeans, dresses, skirts, black, white, tan, silver, gold, the list is eternal.

Loafers

Much like the 60's dresses I used to HATE loafers. Now these comfy classics have grown on me through out the years. I think these look more professional and put together than Sperrys, or other boat shoes.

Accessories & Miscellaneous

Gold EVERYTHING

Gold and rose gold are spreading throughout the fashion industry like influenza. Ditch the silver for fall and get on the "gold train."

Dark Colored Kendra Scott's

Dark colored Kendra's (or even look alikes) have been featured on every fashion blog known to man lately. The lightweight classic has to be in you fashion repertoire at some point.

Thin Nude or Dark Colored Belts

Designers have been belting things a lot more recently. When they do 9 times out of 10 it is with a thin, dark belt.

Sweater Headbands

Not the most popular trend, but these hair pieces can make a messy hair look classy while keeping warm. I would tell everyone to at least try it once.

Boot Cuffs

These cute little numbers can add a feminine touch to your look without making your feet feel bulky. These are also really easy to DIY (let me know if you want a tutorial)!

Well folks that concludes todays fun. Do you agree? Disagree? Is there anything I missed? Let me know in the comments below!
